Social Security Appeals
This, our third major project, is a collaborative effort of PILS and the Baton Rouge Bar Association. Students, under the supervision of local attorney Eric Miller, handle social security appeals from their inception to completion. Students gain firsthand experience, in tasks like filing an appeal and pre-hearing brief, and appearing at an administrative hearing.
The Social Security Project is only open to upperclassmen, but it is an excellent demonstration of how involvement in PILS can provide outlets to give back to our community, and, create avenues for gaining practical experience, that have no parallel.
