Fellowship Opportunities
The Fellowship Committee is dedicated to helping students to get jobs in the public interest field, whether it be summer clerkships or permanent positions. The Committee provides fellowships to qualified LSU Law students with unfunded or partially unfunded public interest summer internships. The Committee also administers stipends for Equal Justice Works conference attendees.
The Committee generally awards summer fellowships after interviews are conducted in April. Successful candidates will identify a potential employer and contact them about a position before applying for the fellowship. Applications generally consist of a signed letter to the selection committee describing position and why a fellowship is deserved. Application instructions are available in the Career Services Office. For a list of frequently asked questions, click here.
The Equal Justice Works conference and career fair is a national event with employers from Alaska to New Hampshire that are interviewing for more than 1,500 job opportunities. It also provides a venue where participants can learn and network about current social justice issues and develop skills that will help them in the workplace. The 2008 fair will be held Oct. 10th and 11th in Washington, D.C. For more information on the Equal Justince Works organization and conference, visit www.equaljusticeworks.org.
If you are interested in attending the career fair, visit the Web site and follow the instructions to register. Once you are registered, you can log on to Symplicity to forward your resume to one of the many employers attending the fair to set up job interviews. Career fair participants can apply through the Fellowship Committee for reimbursement of travel expenses, including airfare, food and lodging. Reimbursement forms are available at the Career Services Office. Priority is given to those students who have secured a job interview with an employer at the career fair.
